College of Horticulture, Sensitize communities on Enrollment

The Acting Provost of the Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin-Kowa (FCHDK) Dr. Umar A. Umar , has commenced a sensitization campaign across communities within the Yamaltu Emirate to tackle low student enrollment and enhance the College’s visibility.

The campaign commenced with a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Yamaltu, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu, FCNA, at his palace. Dr. Umar emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the College, traditional institutions, government agencies, and community stakeholders to promote youth participation in education and skills acquisition.

He called on the Emir to help in enlightening the communities and public on the benefits of youth in the catchment area to benefit from the college programmes.

The Emir of Yamaltu Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu commended the College’s initiative and pledged his full support in mobilizing political and community leaders to encourage massive enrollment into the institution. He also urged the College to continue engaging the host community through educational outreach and employment opportunities.

The sensitization campaign continued across other districts, including Hinna, Gwani, Shinga, Wade, Kwali, Kinafa, Lubo, Difa, Zambuk, Kwadon, Liji, and Kurba. The district heads commended Dr. Umar for his leadership style, dedication, and commitment to community partnership.

This initiative underscores the College’s ongoing efforts to strengthen relationships with its host communities and ensure that more youths across the region take advantage of the academic and vocational opportunities available at the Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin-Kowa.
