A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former gubernatorial aspirant in Bauchi State, Alhaji Al’amin Sani Muhammad, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to investigate the recently sacked service chiefs, questioning their performance, loyalty, and conduct during their tenure.
Speaking to journalists in Bauchi on Monday, Al’amin, who served as Deputy Director of the APC Presidential Campaign Council at the grassroots level, said the dismissal of the security heads was insufficient without a full investigation into their stewardship.
He recalled that under their watch, diplomatic tensions arose earlier this year when Nigeria’s then Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and other senior military officers were denied Canadian visas to attend an event honoring injured veterans, a move widely condemned as disrespectful to Nigeria.
Al’amin also urged the President to probe the roles of the National Security Adviser, the Ministry of Sports, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in related matters.
He noted that insecurity, protests, and public dissatisfaction worsened during the tenure of the sacked chiefs, fuelling rumours of discontent and alleged coup plots within the military.
The Stalwart emphasised that such recurring reports, though repeatedly dismissed by the Defence Headquarters as baseless, reflect growing societal unease.
“These coup rumours are not about soldiers plotting a takeover but about public frustration over insecurity, economic hardship, and declining trust in governance,” he said.
Al’amin maintained that only a transparent and genuine investigation could restore confidence in Nigeria’s security institutions and strengthen loyalty within the armed forces.
