The National Association of Doctors in University Health Services (NADUHS) has dismissed as false and misleading a recent publication titled “Tertiary Institutions Health Workers Shun Strike,” describing it as an attempt to misinform the public about the position of medical doctors in tertiary institutions.
This is contained in a statement signed and signed by the National President of NADUHS, Dr. Hassan Shuaibu Musa on Monday in Bauchi.
He clarified that the so-called Coalition of Healthcare Professionals in Tertiary Education Institutions referenced in the publication is “an unregistered and amorphous entity” with no legal standing or recognition under Nigerian law.
According to Dr. Musa, the National Association of Doctors in University Health Services (NADUHS) remains the only legally recognized professional body representing doctors in university health services across Nigeria.
It operates under the umbrella of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), alongside the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) and the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN).
He reaffirmed NADUHS’s full support for the ongoing strike action led by NARD, noting that the industrial action is a legitimate demand for improved welfare, payment of arrears, and resolution of long-standing issues affecting medical practitioners in the country.
Dr. Musa further disclosed that NADUHS is actively engaging the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, and the National Universities Commission (NUC) to ensure the settlement of CONMESS arrears owed to its members.
He urged the media and the general public to disregard unauthorized statements from unrecognized groups and to rely only on legitimate professional associations for accurate information regarding doctors in tertiary health institutions.
“We stand firmly with NARD and remain committed to advocating for the welfare and dignity of all doctors in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions,” Dr. Musa emphasized.
