Five Police Officers Killed, Others Injured as Bauchi Command Repels Ambush in Darazo

The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the death of five officers and injuries to two others following a deadly ambush on combined police tactical teams in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area.
The attack occurred on 22 November 2025 during an intelligence-led visibility patrol aimed at preventing farmer–herder conflict in the area.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the officers—drawn from the Rapid Response Squad, 10 PMF, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and State Intelligence Department came under sudden attack by unidentified youths while responding to actionable intelligence.
The command noted that a number of the attackers were neutralised during a fierce gun duel.
Those killed in the ambush include DSP Ahmad Muhammad (SID), ASP Mustapha Muhammad (10 PMF), Inspector Amarhel Yunusa (10 PMF),Others are Inspector Idris Ahmed (10 PMF), and Corporal Isah Muazu (AKU).
The injured officers are Inspector Isah Musa and Inspector Yusuf Gambo, both of the State Intelligence Department.Following the incident, the Divisional Police Officer, SP Auwalu Ilu, led reinforcements to the scene to rescue the injured and evacuate the fallen officers.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, later visited the area, commiserating with families of the deceased and assuring the public of ongoing efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, pledging to remain resolute and relentless in the fight against criminality.
