Tinubu’s Appointment of Isa Yuguda as North East RHI Coordinator Lauded by NEGGI

The North East Good Governance Initiative (NEGGI) has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing former Bauchi State Governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda, as the North East Zonal Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Committee, describing the decision as a strategic step toward revitalising the region.
In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Sani Ahmed, the organisation said the appointment reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive governance and accelerated development across all geopolitical zones, especially the North East, which continues to grapple with the effects of prolonged insurgency, economic setbacks, and infrastructural decline.
NEGGI noted that the region requires a steady and visionary leader capable of rebuilding public trust and driving sustainable recovery efforts a role it believes Yuguda is well equipped to deliver.
The group highlighted Yuguda’s distinguished public service career, which includes serving as Managing Director of Inland Bank and Merchant Bank, Minister of Aviation, and two-term Governor of Bauchi State.
During his tenure as governor from 2007 to 2015, Yuguda implemented reforms that reshaped Bauchi’s development pathway.
“These included the establishment and expansion of Bauchi State University, strengthening of healthcare facilities such as the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, modernisation of the Bauchi Airport, and significant investments in roads, education, agriculture, and economic empowerment.
“His administration, NEGGI emphasized, became a model of accountability, transparency, and inclusive governance,” the group said
According to the group, Yuguda’s leadership as Zonal Coordinator will help consolidate federal interventions, deepen grassroots engagement, and catalyse socio-economic renewal across the North East.
NEGGI further stressed that his credibility and acceptance among residents of the region will bolster public confidence in President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The organisation also expressed confidence that the synergy between the President’s national vision and Yuguda’s regional influence will enhance political stability and galvanize grassroots support for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
NEGGI pledged its full support to Yuguda and the Renewed Hope Initiative Committee, promising to mobilize stakeholders and push for reforms that will improve the lives of millions across the North East.
The group concluded by reaffirming its belief that with collective commitment, the region can experience renewed unity, strengthened institutions, and sustainable development under the Renewed Hope banner.
