The African Health Budget Network (AHBN) has recommended the establishment of a dedicated workstation for Non-Governmental Organizations and the Community of Practice (NGOs/CoP) at the headquarters of the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Board (BSPHCDB), as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and improve immunisation outcomes in the state.

The recommendation was made during a courtesy visit and tour of the new BSPHCDB headquarters in Bauchi by the AHBN Convener and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba.

He was accompanied by the AHBN Co-Chairman, Hon. Mohammed Usman, and the Bauchi State AHBN Focal Person, Dr. Hassan Shuaibu Musa.

The team was conducted round the facility by the Director of Disease Control and Immunisation, Dr. Adamu Mohammed, who represented the Executive Chairman of BSPHCDB, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed.

Dr. Magashi expressed satisfaction with the architectural design and functionality of the new headquarters, describing it as a well-planned and fully solar-powered complex that provides a conducive working environment for staff, development partners and critical stakeholders in the health sector.

He commended the Bauchi State Government under the leadership of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for committing substantial resources to strengthen the state’s primary health care system.

According to him, the provision of a dedicated NGOs/CoP workstation within the headquarters would further enhance coordination, accountability and sustainability of immunisation financing, especially efforts aimed at reducing the number of zero-dose children in the state.

Responding, Dr. Adamu Mohammed appreciated AHBN for its continued support and advocacy in improving immunisation services and budget accountability in Bauchi State.

He assured the visiting team that the request would be formally conveyed to the Executive Chairman of BSPHCDB for consideration and approval.

Dr. Adamu also reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to delivering life-saving primary health care services across the 20 local government areas of the state, while strengthening partnerships with stakeholders to achieve improved health outcomes for residents.
