Gov Mohammed Lauds armoured corps at NAAC WASA 2025, reaffirms support for security

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State,has commended troops of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps (NAAC) for their professionalism, resilience and unwavering commitment to national defence and the protection of lives and property.
The commendation was delivered on his behalf by the Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters, Mr Chiroma Siyi, during the West African Social Activities (WASA) 2025 celebration held on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Major Adekunle Akinyele, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, and made available to journalists in Bauchi on Sunday.
Governor Mohammed stressed that security is a collective responsibility and underscored the importance of sustained civil–military cooperation.

He expressed profound appreciation for the sacrifices of officers and soldiers who continue to serve under challenging and often hazardous conditions, far away from their families.
According to him, the WASA tradition provides an avenue to reflect on the core military values of service, sacrifice and patriotism, while also celebrating Nigeria’s cultural diversity and national unity.
He urged troops to leverage the occasion to further strengthen cordial relations between the military and host communities, promoting harmony, tolerance and mutual understanding.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting lawful and constructive initiatives aimed at enhancing security, sustaining peace and driving development across the state.
He congratulated NAAC on the successful hosting of the event and wished participants a peaceful and memorable celebration.
In his welcome address, the Commander, Armoured Corps, Major General Umar Abubakar, applauded officers and soldiers for their dedication to national security,He noted that while many citizens celebrate with their families, several troops remain deployed on demanding frontline operations.
He highlighted key achievements recorded in 2025, including the successful hosting of the Combat Arms Training Week,
Construction of 10 transit officers’ flats, a 30-man soldiers’ accommodation block, and end-of-year training exercises culminating in Exercise MUGUN BUGU.
Reaffirming his commitment to troop welfare, the commander listed interventions such as solar-powered boreholes, rehabilitation of sewage systems, enhanced medical services and upgrades at the NAOWA School.
The WASA 2025 ceremony featured a ceremonial campfire, cultural performances and awards to outstanding soldiers, and was attended by 1senior security and members of host communities officers.
