The Bala Wunti Progressive Alliance (BAWPA) has formally launched a statewide political mobilisation campaign aimed at supporting the governorship ambition of Bala Maijama’a Wunti ahead of the 2027 elections in Bauchi State.
The movement, which held its inaugural meeting in Bauchi, said its mission is to build a broad-based structure that will canvass support for Wunti across the 20 local government areas of the state.
Founder and Executive Director of BAWPA, Malam Ayuba Hassan, described the initiative as a collective effort to secure what he termed “a better future for Bauchi State.” He called on residents to align with the movement, stressing that its activities would focus on grassroots engagement and inclusive participation.

According to Ayuba, the alliance is committed to reaching communities in both urban and rural areas to consolidate support for Wunti’s anticipated candidacy. He noted that coordinators have been strategically selected to drive mobilisation efforts at the local government level.
Also speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of the Bala Wunti Support Organization, Malam Mukhtar Jarmajo, said his organisation remains open to collaboration with all groups that share the objective of supporting Wunti’s political aspiration. He emphasised unity among support groups as a critical factor in achieving electoral success.

Jarmajo further addressed ongoing national conversations about youth inclusion in governance, expressing confidence that young Nigerians possess the competence and leadership capacity required to drive meaningful change when given the opportunity.
A major highlight of the inauguration was the presentation of appointment letters to coordinators drawn from the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State, signaling what organisers described as the beginning of an extensive mobilisation network.
Observers say the emergence of BAWPA adds momentum to early political alignments ahead of the 2027 governorship race, as support groups begin positioning themselves in what is expected to be a competitive contest.
