The Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO) has donated N500,000 and assorted Ramadan food items to persons living with disabilities in Bauchi State as part of efforts to support vulnerable groups during the holy month.
The gesture, spearheaded by the organisation’s Chief Executive Officer, Comrade Muktar Jarmajo, was announced during a special distribution exercise held at the Double Four International Conference Hall.
Addressing beneficiaries and community members at the event, Jarmajo said the initiative was designed to ease the economic burden faced by persons with disabilities, particularly during Ramadan, a period marked by fasting, reflection and increased household needs.
He explained that the cash donation of N500,000 was specifically set aside to provide direct financial support, while food items distributed would assist families in meeting their nutritional needs throughout the fasting period.
According to him, the organisation remains committed to humanitarian service and inclusive community development, stressing that persons with disabilities deserve deliberate attention and sustained support.
“Ramadan is a season of compassion, sacrifice and generosity. As an organisation, we believe that no one should be left behind, especially our brothers and sisters living with disabilities.
This intervention is a demonstration of our solidarity and commitment to their wellbeing,” he said.
Jarmajo further assured that BWSO would continue to design programmes aimed at improving the living standards of vulnerable groups across Bauchi State.
The distribution attracted a large number of beneficiaries and community stakeholders, who commended the organisation for the initiative.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Fatima Abdulrahman and Muktar Umar Mallam Goje expressed gratitude for the timely support, describing it as a welcome relief amid prevailing economic challenges.
They noted that the donation would go a long way in cushioning the effects of hardship during Ramadan and prayed for the continued success of the organisation and its leadership.
The event underscored the growing role of community-based organisations in complementing government efforts to provide social support and promote inclusivity for persons with special needs in Bauchi State.
