Arewa group hails Bauchi governor for recognising Women in Political offices
- Commend PDP Gubernatorial candidate for building ICT centre to Azare

The Arewa Dignity Advancement Initiative (ArDA has commended Bauchi state governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for promoting gender-inclusive governance and supporting female participation in political leadership, public office, and elective positions.
ArDA comments People’s Democratic Party PDP Gubernatorial candidate for building ICT centre to the people of Azare Headquarters of Katagum local government area of Bauchi State.
The group which is a non-partisan and non-governmental organisation committed to promoting inclusive governance, dignity, social development, women and youth empowerment, and equitable participation in public affairs commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for promoting gender inclusion by nominating and supporting women for leadership and elective positions across the state’s local government areas
Chairperson of the group Hajiya Baheejah Mahmood Abdullahi said this in a statement she distributed to newsmen in Bauchi.
She said at a time the Governor appointed Six Women as Commissioners,he nominated a Woman as local Government Chairman and
Additional women were nominated as deputy chairpersons for local government areas including Darazo, Giade, and Warji. Even presently after the Local Government Election many Women were nominated as councilors apart from the several Special advisers,Senior Special Assistant,Special Assistants ,Permanent Secretaries and many positions were given to Women.
Baheejah said “Under his leadership, Bauchi State is increasingly demonstrating that democracy can be genuinely inclusive and friendly to women. His willingness to entrust women with important responsibilities and positions of leadership is a commendable demonstration of confidence in the capacity, competence and leadership potential of women.”
She said “This is not merely about appointing women to positions; it is about giving women the opportunity to participate meaningfully in governance and to contribute directly to the development of the state. For this, ArDA sincerely appreciates His Excellency. *
Baheejah said “ArDA also congratulates all our sisters who have found themselves in various positions of responsibility under the present administration. We encourage them to see their appointments not merely as privileges, but as a call to service and an opportunity to prove that women can perform exceptionally well when given the opportunity and the enabling environment.”
“We urge them to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Governor through diligence, integrity, innovation, accountability and measurable results. Their success will not only be their personal success; it will be a victory for women across Bauchi State and an inspiration to generations of young women who aspire to leadership”.
Chairperson said “ArDA therefore uses this opportunity to appeal to fellow Governors across Nigeria, political leaders and other authorities to give women a fair chance. Women constitute a significant part of our population and play indispensable roles in our families, communities, economy and political development. They deserve meaningful opportunities to serve and lead”.
ArDA Appreciates Alhaji Usman Adamu Sufi for the building a magnificent Azare Grand ICT Centre
Chairperson express its special appreciation to Alhaji Usman Sufi for his remarkable contribution to the development of Azare through the establishment of the Grand ICT Centre.
She said “The establishment of such a facility is a genuine milestone for the people of Azare and the wider Bauchi North Senatorial Zone. At a time when technology, digital skills, information and innovation are becoming increasingly important to education, employment, entrepreneurship and governance, an investment of this nature is highly commendable,indeed, if the zone had two or three comparable initiatives and strategic development interventions of this magnitude, Bauchi North would have had a stronger platform for development and would have felt less politically and institutionally neglected at the federal level”.
Baheejah said as reflected in our earlier stakeholder assessment, Bauchi North currently has very limited representation in major and impactful Federal Government appointments. The zone should not have to depend solely on political appointments to develop, but strategic interventions such as the Grand ICT Centre can make a significant difference by creating opportunities, building human capacity and empowering young people.
ArDA therefore commends Alhaji Usman Sufi for doing what many people in positions of authority, even within more enabling environments, have not been able to accomplish.
We sincerely hope and pray that the Grand ICT Centre will be utilised judiciously, transparently and sustainably, and that it will become a centre of excellence for digital education, innovation, entrepreneurship, skills acquisition and youth development in Bauchi North and beyond.
We also hope that this initiative will inspire more individuals, institutions and governments to invest in similar projects across the zone, so that the people can benefit from sustainable development rather than relying exclusively on political representation.
Baheejah said ArDA believes that leadership is measured not only by policies and programmes but also by the opportunities created for ordinary citizens to participate, develop their potential and contribute to society.
She said The administration’s increasing openness to women’s participation is a welcome development, and ArDA commends the Governor for believing in women and trusting them with positions of responsibility.
ArDA equally appreciates those who, like Alhaji Usman Sufi, are using their positions and resources to create tangible opportunities for our people.
She Pray to Allah to continue to grant the Executive Governor wisdom, strength and good health to lead Bauchi State towards greater development, inclusion and prosperity.
