Germany is backing Nigeria’s efforts to implement the Kampala CAADP Agenda by strengthening policy coordination, state-level execution, monitoring and accountability across the country’s agrifood system.
The support will focus on linking Federal Government institutions, state governments and non-state actors, while helping to align agricultural policies and plans with the Kampala framework.
It will also promote evidence-based implementation through the CAADP Biennial Review, Joint Sector Reviews and consultations on the 2027 Food Systems Budget.
The initiative was highlighted at the Annual Community of Practice Meeting of Commissioners of Agriculture, Health, Environment, Commerce and Rural Development in Maiduguri.

The meeting is focused on translating the Kampala Declaration and its 2026–2035 Strategy and Action Plan into practical actions at national and state levels.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, said effective implementation required stronger coordination between the Federal and State Governments, with compatible policies, reliable data, complementary investments and clear responsibilities.
He said Nigeria had developed and validated a 10-Year National Agrifood System Strategy and Action Plan to domesticate the Kampala commitments.NAN
