The Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, has inaugurated the Imam Shu’aibu Yisin Council of Ulamah Islamic Centre in Bununu, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, as part of efforts to strengthen unity among Muslims and promote community development.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony weekend in Bununu, the senator said the centre was established to bring together Islamic scholars and followers from different groups to foster unity, understanding and cooperation within the Muslim community.

He explained that the facility would serve as a platform for dialogue and collaboration among Islamic scholars, enabling them to address issues affecting the community while promoting peace, mutual respect and development.

Sen. Buba noted that since assuming office, he had remained committed to effective representation through programmes and projects aimed at improving the living conditions of people across the seven local government areas of Bauchi South.

According to him, the centre contains several units dedicated to addressing issues such as inheritance matters, reconciliation and other services that align with Islamic teachings and encourage social harmony.

He said the project was initiated following requests by Islamic scholars from different organisations who sought the establishment of a central meeting point to enhance unity and cooperation among Muslims.

The senator expressed satisfaction with the quality and timely completion of the project and prayed that the centre would contribute significantly to the growth and development of Islam in the area.

Highlighting some of his interventions in the district, the lawmaker listed women and youth empowerment programmes, job creation initiatives, healthcare services, agricultural support and other social welfare efforts.

Chairman of the building committee, Hon. Aminu Tukur, commended the senator for funding the project from conception to completion.

Tukur said the centre comprises 12 offices, a conference hall, a guest house with nine rooms, a store and a shopping complex with six shops, among other facilities.

He added that the project cost about N200 million and was fully financed by the senator.

During the event, the senator also condoled with residents of Alkaleri Local Government Area over recent bandit attacks in communities such as Mansur, Digare, Gwana and Yalo.

He assured that he would collaborate with the Bauchi State Government and security agencies to address the insecurity and announced plans to establish a committee to support displaced persons currently taking refuge in Kashere.

In a related development, Senator Shehu Buba donated N20 million toward the construction of the permanent site of the College of Health Sciences and Technology in Bununu, reaffirming his commitment to advancing education and healthcare in the district.
