The Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO) has joined the global community in celebrating women as part of activities marking International Women’s Day, reaffirming its commitment to promoting gender equity, dignity, and empowerment.
In a statement issued by the organisation’s Chief Communication Officer, Abubakar Al-Sadique, BWSO acknowledged the vital contributions of women to societal development and emphasised the need to strengthen initiatives that support their wellbeing and advancement.
The statement highlighted the sustained efforts of Dr. Bala Wunti in promoting programmes aimed at improving the lives of women across Bauchi State, particularly widows, divorcees, young girls, and other vulnerable groups.
According to the organisation, Dr. Wunti has consistently championed humanitarian and empowerment initiatives designed to enhance women’s economic independence and restore dignity among disadvantaged members of society.
It explained that several interventions implemented through BWSO have focused on providing humanitarian assistance and livelihood support to women in need.
Among such efforts, the organisation recently distributed food items to vulnerable women during the Ramadan period, including internally displaced persons from Alkaleri Local Government Area currently taking refuge in Kashere, Gombe State.
The statement noted that the interventions reflect Dr. Wunti’s belief that empowering women is essential to building stronger families, resilient communities, and a more prosperous society.
It added that Dr. Wunti has also outlined forward-looking development programmes aimed at improving women’s access to education, expanding economic opportunities, and encouraging entrepreneurship across Bauchi State.
“These initiatives are designed to ensure women are given equal opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the state while realising their full potential,” the statement said.
BWSO further stressed that sustainable development cannot be achieved without the active participation and empowerment of women.
The organisation therefore called on community leaders, policymakers, and development partners to collaborate in creating an enabling environment where women can thrive, participate fully in governance and economic activities, and achieve their aspirations.
It also commended the resilience, courage, and contributions of women in Bauchi State and across Nigeria, describing their role as crucial to building a better future for coming generations.
