Bauchi JUSUN Gets New Chairman as Shehu Promises Welfare, Infrastructure Upgrade

Mr Mohammed Salisu Shehu has emerged as Chairman of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Bauchi State Chapter, pledging to prioritise improved facilities and better working conditions for judiciary staff.
Shehu made the commitment in his inaugural address shortly after his swearing-in on Saturday in Bauchi, where he outlined his administration’s focus on upgrading infrastructure within the state’s judicial system.
He stressed the urgent need for the rehabilitation of courtrooms and the provision of modern facilities to enhance effective justice delivery.
According to him, conducive working environments are critical to boosting staff productivity and ensuring timely dispensation of justice.
The new chairman also underscored the importance of improving members’ welfare through enhanced salary structures, allowances, housing and official vehicles.
He noted that better welfare packages would help reduce corruption and strengthen efficiency across the judiciary.Shehu reaffirmed the union’s commitment to protecting the rights and interests of its members, while promoting professionalism, fairness and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
He further pledged to work closely with the government and relevant agencies to ensure the full implementation of financial autonomy for the judiciary at both federal and state levels, in line with constitutional provisions.
Earlier, Mahmud Ibn-Amin, National Legal Adviser of JUSUN and Chief Returning Officer of the election, announced that Shehu secured 445 votes to defeat Mohammed Jaja, who polled 75 votes.
He described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and credible.
Abdulhamid Waziri was also elected as Secretary of the union, as the new leadership assumes responsibility for advancing the welfare of members and strengthening the justice system in the state.
