Bauchi Partners Tech Firm to Deploy 360° Digital Solution for Strengthening Basic Education

From Ahmad Saka, Bauchi

The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (BASUBEB) is exploring a major partnership with New Globe, a private education technology firm, to introduce a comprehensive, technology-driven solution aimed at improving service delivery, monitoring, and overall learning outcomes in the state’s basic education system.

Presenting the firm’s proposal on Friday, New Globe’s Team Lead, Dr. Ahmed Golori, told the Executive Chairman of BASUBEB and other senior officials that the organisation’s “360-degree education solution” would support the state in accessing grants and providing technical capacity for implementation.

Dr. Golori highlighted the challenges of educational poverty in Northern Nigeria, including the high rate of out-of-school children, teacher absenteeism, and ineffective instructional methods that undermine pupil performance.

He explained that the proposed programme covers multiple layers of education delivery classrooms, teachers, pupils, administrators, and even the state governor enabling real-time monitoring of school and teacher activities.

He noted that New Globe has successfully implemented similar initiatives in Edo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Kwara, and Jigawa states, as well as six countries across the world.

In her remarks, the organisation’s Manager for Policy and Partnerships in Africa, Pearl Owei, said New Globe works with visionary governments to transform foundational literacy, numeracy, and the general school system.

She described the Bauchi meeting as “very warm and encouraging,” praising SUBEB’s readiness to embrace innovations that will benefit schoolchildren.

According to her, the proposed partnership typically implemented over five years will improve teacher performance and strengthen operations at SUBEB and the Ministry of Education.

She commended the state government for its openness to innovations and commitment to reform.

Also speaking, Dr. Mohammed Boyi, who facilitated the engagement with New Globe, said the initiative was motivated by the firm’s achievements in Jigawa, Kwara, Lagos, and Rwanda.

He explained that the programme would equip SUBEB with tools to track the performance of teachers and students, alongside providing computers for key departments.

Responding, the Executive Chairman of BASUBEB, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to improving basic education and reducing the out-of-school population.

He said the Board will carefully study the proposal to determine the way forward.

Similarly, the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Abdulhamid Mohammed, described the proposed solution as “technically acceptable” and pledged the Board’s full support, calling on stakeholders to work together to address challenges facing basic education in the state.
