ATBUTH Bauchi named best tertiary hospital in DHIS2 utilization.

The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, has recorded two major national milestones, reinforcing its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading centres for clinical excellence, digital innovation, and institutional capacity building.

In a statement issued by the Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Usman Abdullahi Koli, made available to newsmen on Saturday in Bauchi.

The hospital announced that it emerged overall best-performing tertiary hospital in the use of the District Health Information Software 2 (DHIS2), ranking first among 18 evaluated federal teaching hospitals.

DHIS2, deployed by FHI360 and used in more than 70 countries, is the world’s largest health data management platform, supporting efficient data collection, reporting accuracy, analytics, visualization, and integration with other digital systems.

ATBUTH’s top performance reflects its strong adherence to data quality standards, functional digital infrastructure, and commitment to evidence-based healthcare planning.

The hospital’s management described the achievement as a demonstration of ATBUTH’s dedication to accountability, improved service delivery, and digital transformation in line with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare’s agenda.In a separate recognition, the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) honoured ATBUTH Bauchi as the Best Organisation in Human Resources and Development for 2024 within the Bauchi Area Office.

The award highlights the hospital’s sustained investment in staff training, institutional growth, and continuous professional development.

The Chief Medical Director, Professor Yusuf Bara Jibrin, commended the ICT Unit, Health Information Management Department, and other stakeholders for their contributions.

He stressed that both recognitions reflect the hospital’s vision to strengthen digital health systems and enhance workforce competency for better patient outcomes.

ATBUTH Bauchi also appreciated the Federal Government, FHI360, the ITF, and all partners for supporting efforts to expand Nigeria’s healthcare quality and human resource development.
