APC Coalition Rejects Gov. Mohammed, Lists 10 Grounds Against Defection

By Ahmed Ahmed

A coalition under the banner of the APC Solidarity Group and Allied Associations has publicly opposed the alleged plan by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing concerns over party unity, credibility and electoral prospects ahead of 2027.

This is contained in a statement signed by IB Muhammad and Abubakar Abdullahi Director Programs & External Affairs Secretary respectively made available to journalists in Bauchi on Friday,

The group reaffirmed its loyalty to the APC and expressed confidence in the party’s renewed cohesion and leadership at the state level.

It noted that the current unity within the party has boosted optimism for victory in the 2027 general elections, including support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The group, however, outlined ten key reasons why Governor Mohammed should not be admitted into the APC.

Top among them were his persistent public criticism of the APC-led Federal Government, allegations of poor governance against the ruling party, and what it described as declining goodwill for his administration among Bauchi residents.

It also cited existing political rivalries between the governor and prominent APC figures such as Isa Yuguda, Yakubu Dogara, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar and Shehu Buba Umar, warning that his entry could trigger internal divisions.

Other concerns raised included questions over political consistency, ideological alignment with APC principles, and fears that his admission could demoralise loyal party members and weaken grassroots support.

The group further cautioned that accepting the governor at this critical period could pose strategic risks to the party’s chances in the 2027 elections, stressing that party unity must not be compromised.

Reiterating its stance, the coalition declared that “Kaura is not welcome in APC,” urging the party leadership to prioritise stability and heed the concerns of members.

It concluded that its position was driven by the need to safeguard the integrity, cohesion and electoral success of the APC in Bauchi State.
