BAUCHI — Sen. Shehu Buba Umar, the 2027 governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Bauchi State, has disowned unauthorised posters, political statements and policy positions being circulated in his name.
Umar called on his supporters, political associates, media practitioners and members of the public to exercise restraint and ensure proper verification and authorisation of political communications associated with him.
This is contained in a statement signed by Comrade Sabo Mohammed, Special Adviser on Media and Communication to the senator, and made available to newsmen in Bauchi on Tuesday.
The statement said the clarification followed reports of posters bearing Umar’s image alongside candidates of other political parties at various levels, as well as statements and policy positions allegedly issued without his consent.
Umar specifically stated that he did not endorse or authorise the placement of his posters alongside candidates of other political parties where such materials did not reflect the official candidates, structures or positions of the PRP.
He warned that any poster or political material produced and circulated without his express approval should not be regarded as representing his position or that of his campaign organisation.
The governorship candidate reaffirmed his commitment to the principles of politics of conscience, integrity, accountability, discipline and due diligence.
He said his political activities remained firmly anchored on promoting the interests of the PRP and its candidates at all levels ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Umar also urged his supporters and political stakeholders to desist from making unauthorised statements on policies, political alliances, endorsements and campaign activities in his name.
He advised media organisations and journalists to verify statements, posters, photographs and other materials attributed to him or his campaign team before publication or broadcast.
He said the clarification was aimed at promoting discipline, transparency and consistency within his political structure and preventing misinformation and misrepresentation.
Umar appreciated the continued support of Bauchi people and urged his supporters to remain calm, disciplined and committed to the PRP programme.
He advised the public to rely only on official communications issued or authorised by him or his designated representatives.
