Satomari Says PDP Remains United in Southern Borno

A House of Representatives candidate, Askira-Uba and Hawul Federal Constituency Mr Milda Satomari, (Haske ) has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains united and indivisible in Southern Borno, despite the existence of different interests within the party.
Satomari made the declaration while speaking with newsmen after an engagement with critical stakeholders from Askira-Uba and Hawul Federal Constituency in Maiduguri.
He said the meeting was part of a continuous engagement process aimed at understanding developments at the grassroots, listening to stakeholders and sharing his vision with them.
According to him, the stakeholders were invited to deliberate on political developments and provide feedback that would guide his engagements and programmes going forward.
He said although different interest groups might exist within political parties, there were internal mechanisms for resolving disagreements and sustaining unity.
“As far as the people are concerned, and as far as PDP is concerned in Borno and Southern Borno, we are one indivisible PDP.
“There may be interest groups, but at the end of the day, we all come together and address one objective, which is to provide positive representation that will deliver our people from the hardship that we are facing,” he said.
Satomari said his movement, the Haske Foundation, had been implementing youth and women empowerment initiatives.
“Including skills training, business support and exposure to Artificial Intelligence tools to improve beneficiaries’ marketing and employment opportunities.
He said his programmes would also focus on securing farmers and supporting them with fertiliser, while women would be provided with access to land, farm grants and support to improve petty trading.
He added that young people would be supported through skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and other emerging opportunities to enable them to become gainfully employed.
The candidate said stakeholder engagement should remain a continuous process, stressing the need for political actors to regularly consult and engage one another.
On reports that some PDP members were supporting a particular presidential candidate, Satomari said there was a distinction between collaboration and coalition.
“I am part of a collaboration and not a coalition. Coalition is targeted towards a particular agenda, but collaboration is all-encompassing,” he said.
He described Haske as a movement rather than a political party, noting that some participants were neither PDP members nor members of any political party.
Satomari said he was contesting to represent the people of Askira-Uba and Hawul at the House of Representatives, with a commitment to contributing to national policy and development.
Also speaking, Alhaji Ibrahim Abba Ghana, Borno governorship candidate, stressed the need to secure farmers and create conditions for them to return to their farms and earn a livelihood.
