Baba Ma’aji Joins Bauchi APC Governorship Race for 2027

Arc. Kabir Baba Ma’aji, former General Manager of Compensation at the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) and Ex-Special Adviser to the Bauchi State Governor Isa Yuguda on Project Monitoring and Evaluation, has officially purchased the nomination form to contest for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections in Bauchi State.

Ma’aji, who holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from Ahmadu Bello University, is joining a growing list of influential politicians, technocrats and stakeholders seeking to emerge as the APC standard bearer in the forthcoming governorship election.

His entry into the race is expected to further intensify political activities within the opposition party as aspirants continue consultations and mobilization across the state.

Among the leading personalities already linked to the APC governorship contest are Yusuf Tuggar, who was also the party’s governorship candidate in 2015, former Bauchi State Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar.

Former Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPCL Upstream Investment Services Bala Maijama’a Wunti, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, as well as former Chief of the Air Staff Sadique Abubakar, who contested under the APC platform during the 2023 governorship election.

Speaking shortly after obtaining the nomination form, Ma’aji pledged to bring his wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors to bear in addressing the developmental challenges facing Bauchi State.

He said his administration would focus on revitalising critical sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure and youth empowerment, stressing that the state has abundant human and natural resources capable of driving rapid socio-economic growth if properly managed.

According to him, transparent leadership, accountability and effective project monitoring would remain central to his governance agenda.

He also promised to promote policies that would encourage investment, improve job opportunities for young people and strengthen rural development across the state.

Political analysts believe the increasing number of aspirants vying for the APC governorship ticket reflects the strategic importance of Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 elections and signals what may becom⁰e one of the most competitive primary contests within the party in the North-East region.
