Chancellor Al-Muhibbah open university urges discipline, excellence, matriculates 365 students

Al-Muhibbah Open University has formally admitted 365 students for the 2025/2026 academic session, with Bauchi State First Lady and Chancellor of the institution, Dr Aisha Bala Mohammed, calling on the new entrants to embrace discipline, hard work and integrity in pursuit of academic excellence.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony held on Tuesday at the International Conference Centre, Bauchi, the Chancellor described the event as a historic milestone marking the university’s third academic session since its establishment in 2023.

She expressed satisfaction with the institution’s steady growth and commended the Bauchi State Government for sustained support.
She pledged that the university would continue to uphold quality standards capable of producing globally competitive graduates.Mohammed urged the matriculating students to remain focused on their studies, obey institutional regulations and acquire additional skills necessary for future challenges, warning that indiscipline would not be tolerated.
She also acknowledged regulatory support from the National Universities Commission and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, as well as scholarship opportunities provided to some students by the state government.
The Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Yahuza Bello, described the university as a visionary project and a lasting contribution to humanity, praising the Chancellor’s commitment to expanding access to quality education.

He reminded students that admission into the institution carries both privilege and responsibility, urging them to justify the sacrifices of stakeholders through diligence, moral uprightness and dedication to learning.
In his address, Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr Ibrahim Hassan, disclosed that the university’s enrolment had risen to over 500 students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, following the addition of new faculties and courses.
He added that 12 of the institution’s initial programmes had secured full accreditation from the National Universities Commission.
Hassan also highlighted Bauchi State Government’s sponsorship of 200 students and internship opportunities available through the university’s entrepreneurial platforms, noting that graduates were being prepared for leadership, innovation and self-reliance rather than unemployment.
The ceremony, attended by government officials, traditional leaders, academics and parents, underscored the institution’s commitment to flexible open and distance learning, character development and national development through accessible higher education.
