TETFund Constructs Female Hostels at SAZU, Enhances Student Accommodation

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has constructed and delivered two modern female students’ hostels at the Gadau Main Campus and Yuli Campus of Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Bauchi State, as part of its 2024 Annual Intervention Projects aimed at improving infrastructure in tertiary institutions.

The projects were officially commissioned during a ceremony held at the university’s Gadau Main Campus under the Presidential Commissioning of TETFund-funded projects across the country.

The newly completed facilities comprise two 40-room ensuite female hostels designed to address accommodation shortages, improve student welfare and create a more conducive environment for learning.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of SAZU, Prof. Fatimah Tahir, described the hostel projects as a major boost to the university’s infrastructure development efforts.She noted that adequate accommodation remains vital to students’ academic success and commended TETFund for its sustained support to higher education institutions nationwide.

According to her, the hostels will enhance the comfort, safety and overall welfare of female students while contributing to improved academic performance.

“This project demonstrates TETFund’s commitment to improving the welfare of students and supporting universities in providing quality learning environments,” she said.

Prof. Tahir also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sustaining TETFund’s mandate and ensuring continued investment in educational infrastructure across the country.

Representing the Bauchi State Commissioner for Higher Education and Regional Integration, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Malam Isa Mohammed Tahir, said the hostels reflect the government’s commitment to quality education and student development.

He urged students to make proper use of the facilities and maintain them for future generations.

The projects further highlight TETFund’s pivotal role in expanding infrastructure and improving learning and living conditions in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
