Bauchi boosts yankari transport fleet with new vehicles to improve mobility

The Bauchi State Government has added 30 vehicles to the fleet of the state-owned Yankari Transport Company as part of efforts to reduce transportation difficulties and improve mobility for residents across the state.Speaking during the commissioning ceremony in Bauchi,

the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof. Titus Saul Ketkuka, said the initiative reflects the commitment of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed’s administration to providing affordable, safe, and reliable transportation services to the people of Bauchi State.

Prof. Ketkuka disclosed that the first batch of the vehicles commissioned includes 10 eighteen-seater buses and two Peugeot cars, while the remaining 23 vehicles are expected to arrive later in the month.

He explained that the expansion of the Yankari Transport fleet is designed to meet the growing demand for public transportation and cushion the impact of rising transportation costs on commuters.

According to the commissioner, the newly acquired vehicles will operate on strategic routes within and outside the state, making travel easier and more convenient for traders, students, workers, and other residents.

Ketkuka noted that the development demonstrates the government’s determination to improve citizens’ welfare and strengthen the transportation sector as a catalyst for economic growth.

He added that the vehicles would also create employment opportunities and boost revenue generation for the transport company.

He urged the management and staff of Yankari Transport Company to ensure proper maintenance of the vehicles and sustain quality service delivery.

In his vote of thanks, the General Manager of Yankari Transport Company, Engr. Babaji Yunusa, commended the state government for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful.

He assured Governor Bala Mohammed that the vehicles would be properly utilized to enhance the movement of people and goods across the state.
