The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed that its much-anticipated 2025 National Convention will proceed as scheduled this weekend, from Saturday, November 15 to Sunday, November 16, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

This was contained in a joint statement issued by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, and the Secretary, Publicity and Communication Sub-Committee of the National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC).

The statement, which was circulated to journalists in Bauchi by Usman Shehu Usman, the State Information Commissioner, dismissed reports suggesting that the convention had been postponed.

According to the statement, both the National Working Committee (NWC) and the NCOC urged party members, delegates, and the general public to disregard what they described as “false and misleading claims” being spread by individuals allegedly sponsored by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“The NWC and NCOC are aware of the APC’s desperate plot to destabilize the opposition and impose a one-party system in the country a move that will be lawfully resisted,” the statement added.

It assured that all preparations for the convention are in top gear, with committees working tirelessly to ensure a smooth and successful exercise in Ibadan.

While expressing gratitude to Nigerians for their continued support, the PDP and NCOC welcomed party leaders, delegates, and supporters who have already begun arriving in Ibadan ahead of the event.

The statement reiterated the party’s commitment to internal democracy and national unity, emphasizing that the convention will mark another milestone in the PDP’s efforts to strengthen its structures and reposition itself as a credible alternative to the ruling party.
