Bauchi holds groundbreaking for BMCC mining project, sets stage for Jobs, economic expansion

The Bauchi State Government has formally launched the construction of BMCC Nigeria Limited, a joint-venture mining project between the state and China’s Shandong Minsheng Group, marking a major milestone in its drive to boost economic growth and job creation.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place in Baraza Village, Dass Local Government Area, drawing key government officials, traditional rulers, industry stakeholders, and international partners.
Gov. Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, represented by Deputy Governor Muhammad Auwal Jatau, described the ground-breaking as a significant step toward unlocking Bauchi’s abundant mineral resources and expanding economic opportunities.
He said the establishment of BMCC is expected to enhance the state’s economic profile, deepen investor confidence, and generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs for residents.
The Governor assured investors that Bauchi remains a peaceful and secure environment for long-term investment, reaffirming the government’s readiness to support all initiatives that promote sustainable development.
Chairman of Shandong Minsheng Group, Mr. Yu Tao, hailed the ceremony as the beginning of a stronger economic partnership between China and Nigeria.
He expressed optimism that the project would attract more international investors, drive technological advancement, and speed up economic growth across the state.In his presentation, Commissioner for Natural Resources Development, Muhammad Maiwada Bello, said the groundbreaking symbolised Bauchi’s new chapter in mineral development.
He highlighted the strategic value of the BMCC venture, noting that it would increase economic output, improve mining infrastructure, and elevate the state’s global standing in the extractive industry.
Bello stressed that the project would operate under international best practices, ensuring transparency, environmental protection, and direct benefits to host communities.
The Chairman of Dass Local Government, Muhammad Jibo, and the Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyamu Othman, commended the groundbreaking, pledging full support for its successful execution.
Other dignitaries, including state legislators and community leaders, also lauded the initiative, describing it as a catalyst for peace, progress, and economic prosperity in Bauchi State.
