The National Leadership of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has refuted reports alleging that Chief Bob-Mmanuel Okonmah, an aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, is simultaneously registered as a member of both political parties.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Khalid Arewa, the ZLP said it neither authorized nor had prior knowledge of any membership registration linked to Chief Okonmah either in Anambra State or at the national level.
The party explained that upon becoming aware of the development, it immediately conducted an internal review and removed the entry from its digital register.“For the avoidance of doubt, Chief Bob-Mmanuel Okonmah is not a registered member of the Zenith Labour Party,” the statement said.
The party described the situation as a calculated act of political propaganda aimed at creating confusion, misleading the public, and tarnishing the image of both the ZLP and the aspirant involved.
According to the statement, the timing and nature of the allegation appear to suggest an attempt to undermine the APGA nomination process by unnecessarily dragging the ZLP into matters concerning another political party.
The ZLP reaffirmed its commitment to due process, transparency, and the rule of law in all party affairs, urging members of the public, the media, and relevant authorities to disregard any claims linking the party to acts of dual registration or political misconduct.
The party further stated that it remains committed to building a credible political alternative for Nigerians and would not be distracted by controversies arising from the internal affairs of other political parties.
The statement was signed by Khalid Arewa, National Publicity Secretary of the Zenith Labour Party.
