Zauren Alheri Endorses Bala Wunti, Signals Growing Grassroots Momentum Ahead of 2027

The endorsement of Dr Bala Maijama’a Wunti by the Zauren Alheri Initiative has been described as a major indication of his rising political influence ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State.
According to a statement signed by Abubakar Al-Sadique, Chief Communication Officer of the Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO), the endorsement reflects growing confidence among youths, women and grassroots supporters in Dr Wunti’s leadership capacity and inclusive style of politics.
The statement noted that the Zauren Alheri Initiative, a Christian youth socio-political organisation with structures across the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State, threw its weight behind the APC stalwart based on his record of humanitarian service, empowerment programmes and community engagement.
Observers believe the development demonstrates Dr Wunti’s growing acceptance across religious and ethnic divides in the state, a factor widely regarded as crucial in determining political strength and electoral viability in Bauchi’s diverse political landscape.
Chairman of the initiative, Samson Achimugu, reportedly described Dr Wunti as a leader committed to youth development and community empowerment through scholarship schemes, support for vulnerable families and economic opportunities for young people.
Women leaders within the organisation also expressed confidence in his leadership qualities. Political activist Asabe Tula Abimelech stressed the need for leadership that prioritises girl-child education, economic inclusion and support for indigent students.
The statement further explained that supporters view Dr Wunti as a competent and accessible leader capable of promoting unity, peaceful coexistence and equitable development across the state.
Responding on behalf of the Bala Wunti Support Organisation, its Chief Executive Officer, Mukhtar Ahmed Jarmajo, reaffirmed the group’s commitment to issue-based politics, peaceful participation and inclusive governance.
Political analysts believe the endorsement may further strengthen Dr Wunti’s grassroots mobilisation as political activities ahead of the 2027 governorship race gradually gather momentum in Bauchi State.
